Privacy Policy

AutoApply Chrome Extension — Last updated: April 11, 2026

Summary: AutoApply stores all data locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information. The only external communication is with the AI provider you choose (Gemini, OpenAI, or Claude) using your own API key.

1. What Data Is Stored

AutoApply stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage (chrome.storage.local):

Resume data — Parsed resume content (name, contact info, experience, education, skills) extracted from the PDF or text you provide
API key — The AI platform API key you enter in settings
AI platform preference — Your chosen provider (Gemini, OpenAI, or Claude)
Answer bank — Custom question-answer pairs you create for common application questions
Application history — Records of job applications you fill, including company name, role, date, match score, tailored resume filename, and cover letter text (if generated)
Preferences — Settings such as whether to track application history

2. Where Data Is Stored

All data is stored locally on your device in Chrome's extension storage. No data is stored on any external server, database, or cloud service operated by AutoApply.

Data persists until you manually clear it using the "Clear All Data" button in the extension's Settings tab, or until you uninstall the extension.

3. What Data Is Transmitted

AutoApply sends data to one external service only — the AI provider you select — and only when you explicitly trigger an action (Fill, Tailor, Cover Letter, Match Score, or Parse Resume).

Depending on your chosen platform, data is sent to:

Google Gemini — generativelanguage.googleapis.com
OpenAI — api.openai.com
Anthropic Claude — api.anthropic.com

The data sent includes your resume content and/or job description text, as needed for the requested action. Your API key is included in the request header for authentication.

Only the provider you select is contacted. The other two providers are never sent any data.

4. What Data Is NOT Collected

AutoApply does not:

Collect any analytics or usage data
Use cookies or tracking pixels
Send data to any server operated by AutoApply
Share, sell, or transfer data to any third party
Access browsing history, bookmarks, or other browser data
Run in the background or access pages without user action
Store any data outside of your local Chrome profile

5. Page Access

AutoApply accesses the content of web pages only when you click an action button (Fill, Tailor, Cover Letter, or Match Score). It reads form fields and job description text from the active tab to perform the requested action. No page content is stored permanently or sent anywhere other than the AI provider for processing.

6. Third-Party Services

The AI providers (Google, OpenAI, Anthropic) have their own privacy policies governing how they handle data sent via their APIs:

AutoApply has no control over how these providers process your data. We recommend reviewing their policies before use.

7. Data Deletion

You can delete all stored data at any time:

Open AutoApply → Settings → click "Clear All Data"
Or uninstall the extension — all local data is automatically removed

8. Children's Privacy

AutoApply is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
